Arsenal are fourth

It's good that Arsenal are recovering, but it seems to me to have involved a lot of luck (such as pentalties!) and other teams being inconsistent. Pundits will no doubt claim it was just a 'blip', but the failings of other teams, due to lower quality than before, should not cover up how poor Arsenal are in season and how badly they need reinforcements. Unfortunately, I am worried that this 'recovery' will have a negative impact. I am not someone who thinks that Arsenal's lack of spending is down to restrictions placed upon him by the Arsenal board. Imho, it is Wenger himself that objects to spending money. The worry I have is therefore that Wenger will use this 'recovery' as an excuse not to spend any money in January. Then we willl face a massive struggle to finish in the Europa league places, let alone the top 4.

I'm hoping Wenger has discovered his squad just isn't good enough to compete for top spots in the PL. Being 4th on goal difference isn't good enough.

All will be answered in Jan. If he spends and gets 2 or 3 marquee players (pref a striker, defensive midfielder and pacey full back) then we could be on the road to recovery.

What I suspect will happen will be his usual reluctance to spend at all and we will go on, slowly slipping into obscurity...

Full of Xmas cheer today :-)

That does seem to me to be the most likely scenario. I'm almost tempted to say that if Arsenal have a bad season (i.e not qualifying for the Champions or Europa Leagues), then let it be a really bad one, so the board at Arsenal see the reality and are then more likely to act to get rid of Wenger. Under his stewardship, I can only see the situation getting progressively worse, unfortunately.

Merry christmas, btw.
