Just released a new album this week and a musical he was working on was going to be performed this year. So shocked to hear about his death. He inspired a generation - a musical Legend.

David Bowie Prom at the Albert Hall
Great Bowie Prom at the Albert Hall last night. Some brilliant orchestral interpretations and arrangements of lesser known material. The sounds they created were amazing and the musicianship of both players and singers in adapting his music in so many different ways, showed the quality of his song-writing. If you're a pure Bowie fan and less interested in other people's interpretation of his music, then this may not be for you. Similarly, if you're just wanting his entire back catalogue of hits to be churned out by others, this was NOT what the concert was about. Bowie was one of the greatest musical innovators of my lifetime and i'm sure he would have been thrilled by what was created last night. If you missed it, catch it on B.B.C. IPlayer. The audience participation at the grand finale of " Let's Dance " brought back memories of Freddy Mercury's ability to inspire the fans at Band Aid all those years ago. If you just want to hear the title track " Blackstar " from his last album rather than the trilogy they have put together here, it starts at 12:30 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x72dOxkfY4M |
