Just when I thought sports fans in my town were saturated enough with successful sports stories here, the Pirates, who are a team with much tradition and history of success, who fell on hard times in the past decade or so, are in contention for a run at a championship in their division. Sports fans in my town are sure spoiled!

This 2013 season sees the team tied for first place nearing seasons end, Alot of excitement here.

The Pirates are in the post season baseball playoffs. First time in many years. Great excitement here in Pittsburgh.

Thanks John. Tonight Oct.9th. is game 5 of the best of 5 series against St. Louis in St. Louis. Series tied at 2-2. The winner tonight advances into the next round. I will keep you informed.

Unfortunately, The Pirates lost the deciding game last night. But this was the first time in 20 years that there has been this much excitement for the team in this town. 20 consecutive losing seasons prior to this season. And this year a winning record and a post season playoff appearance. Thanks Pirates for a great season and a new attitude. See you next year.

Well the new season begins on this coming Monday. Let's go Pirates!

Pirates, 22 wins 26 losses, They need to pick up the pace a bit.

As of September 23rd. The Pirates have clinched a playoff position. A great run of games since August 1st. has secured it. After 20 losing seasons they are playoff bound again two years in a row!

4 more games left in the regular season and then the playoffs begin. Only 5 teams make the playoffs from each league. The top 2 that remain play in the World Series. A best of 7 between the winner of the national league pennant and the American league pennant. As for the Steelers in football they are started and I will share their news in the football thread later.

The first round of the playoffs began Tuesday night. The Pirates play Wednesday night at home in Pittsburgh. Wish us luck!
