Default Lily's Journey - Part I

Part I - Lily's Capture

Lily entered the building wondering if she has enough experience to work at this esteemed facility. She should just be confident. Just be your self and project self confidence. This is what she wanted, more responsibility and a chance to help people in need.

She met the considerably older Catherine in the lobby. It was evident from the start that she would have to be extremely diligent in the workplace. "Dr. Brockhurst can see you right on time. It will take us about all of 5 minutes to reach his office from here. I'll take you right up."

They take an elevator all the way to the 14th floor. Dr. Brockhurst's office was situated on the north east corner of the building. Catherine opened the door after knocking 3 times. "Is there anything I can get you, coffee or tea?" she asks. "No thank you" Lily replies..

"You must be Lily - welcome to PineCrest Health. I am Dr. Brockhurst. I take it your trip up here went smooth." In the next hour to hour and a half Lily listens to Dr. Brockhurst explain her responsibilities should she be offered the job. It sounds like a lot of work, but her confidence is boosted a little when she is assured that no newcomer is expected to make headway in the first few months.

"And as you can see, we have a beautiful facility here, we take care of our staff, as we hope they will take care of our patients. If you have some time, I will have Catherine show you the grounds and take you around some of the floors where you might work. If that is ok with you?" says, asks Dr. Brockhurst as he must have noticed the expression on Lily's face. She has no excuse and cannot find words other than "Sure, that would be nice.".

A few seconds later Catherine opens the door. She smiles at Lily and just says "We can start at the top floor, that way we can end on the gounds, easier for you to get out". "Thank you" Lily replies.

While waiting for the elevator Catherine explains that she started here quite a while back, but have been very happy working here. Just as she pushes the button to close the doors a nurse with a wheelchair shouts out. "Wait, hold it...". The nurse wheel the chair in and positions herself at the back. As she comes past Lily, the nurse nods and says "Eighteen please". The doors close and the elevator starts it climb.

Catherine thrusts the stungun into Lily's side depressing the button. Lily is virtually rendered unconscious by the force of electricity. Angela shoves the wheelchair underneath Lily, catching her before she could drop to the floor. Catherine puts the stungun away, straps Lily's arms to the chair while Angela slips on a pair of latex gloves. She pulls two vials out of her pocket. She then inserts a syringe into one, pulls up all of the clear liquid, then injects it into a second milkier one. After shaking it, she inserts the needle and pulls all of it into the syringe. The sedative and mind drug will make Lily forget and obey.

As Catherine massages Lily's arm readying a vein, Angela swabs a alcohol wipe over Lily's arm and gently inserts the needle with the nasty substance. Lily doesn't feel the sting of the needle, and isn't completely focused after the initial shock, but she sees the needle and wants to protest. But the electricity that has gone through her body rendered her slightly paralyzed and no sound makes it out of her mouth. As Angela pushes the sleepy cocktail slowly into Lily's body, she can see Lily's eyes trying to respond. "She knows we are drugging her, but she can't speak." Angela says to Catherine.

Catherine lifts Lily's head and looks into her eyes. "Within 3 minutes she will have no recollection of anything. By the time she can speak she will have nothing to say." Lily can only look at Catherine, as the sleepiness is starting to take effect. Her head is heavy, and if not for Catherine holding it up it would fall onto her chest. As Angela pulls out the syringe, Catherine's words are the last Lily hears: "She is nearly gone, her eyes are glazed over...". The rest is replaced by a dull droning and the darkness that enfolds Lily.

Lily's bobbing head wakes her up. She is being pushed down a hallway. She has no idea what she is doing here. She is wearing a mask and she cannot move her arms. Something isn't right. She is moving, she's in a wheelchair. Her surroundings are starting to come into focus. What happened? Her legs are strapped too. "Help" she tries to say, but it sounds more like a muffled bark than anything else.

The wheelchair stops. Angela comes around to the front. "We can't have you wake up now, can we? Is there something you want to tell me?" Lily wants to tell her something but she notices Catherine pouring something onto a cloth. Angela bends down and pulls the mask away, revealing the smell of latex gloves Lily knows well, and within a split second Catherine slips the cloth between the mask and Lily's face. Surprised, Lily gasps. The pungent sweet smell of the chloroform makes her instantly dizzy, and she tries not to breathe but Catherine is holding the mask with the well soaked cloth right in her face, it is making her eyes water, and the straps of the mask is tightening. Angela is strapping it fast.

"It doesn't matter if you try to hold your breath, eventually you will have to breathe. You'll be deeply under before we go through those doors." As Lily is trying to make sense of Catherine's words, Angela is slowly pushing her towards those doors. If only she could see what is beyond. "Shouldn't breathe" Lily thinks. Catherine is walking ahead, ready to open the doors when they get to it, but her image is getting fuzzy. Lily is feeling very sleepy. She can't hold her breath, trying to slowly breathe, but the lack of fresh air is forcing her to inhale. The dizziness and ringing in her ears are interrupted by Catherine's voice: "Are you sleeping yet?" Catherine says, sounding to Lily like she's underwater. As Catherine looks down at Lily in the wheelchair, she sees her eyes flutter and then roll over. "There we go baby, take a nap." With the chloroform still tightly over her nose and mouth, Lily's breathing is deep and even. As every breath pulls her deeper, Catherine holds the doors for Angela to push their latest "patient" through.
